Guldsmed og smykkedesigner Ditte Stepnicka

Min inspiration kommer ofte fra komplekse organiske former, men også fra stramme arkitektoniske linjer, og jeg kigger meget på de former, der opstår I samspillet mellem lys og mørke. Mine designs bryder med den gængse opfattelse af, hvordan et smykke skal se ud, for i mine øjne behøver en ring ikke være rund for at være behagelig at have på.
                                           

Når jeg arbejder med én form, opstår andre undervejs i udviklingen af smykket. Derfor er de alle et produkt af hinanden. Min signatur er det grafiske og minimalistiske udtryk, hvor funktion og æstetik er lige vigtige faktorer. Unødvendige detaljer er skrællet væk, og essensen af smykket står tilbage.

I get inspiration from complex organic shapes but also from strict architectural lines and I observe the shapes that are created in the interplay between light and darkness. My designs settle with the common idea of what a piece of jewelry can look like because to me there is no such rule that a ring needs to be round to be wearable. When I develop one piece other ideas come into existence in the progress. This is why they are all a product of one another. My signature is the graphic and minimalistic expression where function and aesthetics are equal factors. Unnecessary details are cut away and the essence of the jewelry is the only thing left.

I wish to bring new ideas into an old craft by challenging the common idea of wearable jewelry.
